We’re excited to share that Bridgewater team members involved in the Women’s Resource Network (WRN), of our joint venture partner, Adient, recently visited Vista Maria in Dearborn Heights, Michigan to conduct a resume workshop with the residents in an effort to empower them and improve their lives!
Lori Plough organized the event with the help of six WRN volunteers. The residents were given guidance on creating a resume, preparing for interviews, applying/finding open positions, and creating a LinkedIn profile to build a network. They were also given the opportunity to meet some of our Warren, Michigan Plant Human Resource employees to learn more about working in Bridgewater Interiors.
“One of the young ladies I met had a goal to get a job at Walmart as a cashier,” said Lisa Montgomery, Sr. Human Resources Manager Bridgewater Interiors Warren, Michigan Plant. “Her sincerity and her excitement really made me think about how blessed I am. It also made me stop and think of other ways that I can serve those who need just a little more help. It was an honor and a privilege to be a blessing to others through this opportunity. Great job to the organizers and please continue to reach out to us in Warren. We love to serve others.”
We applaud Vista Maria for creating the Shepherd Hall Transitional Living Program to address the specific needs of young adults who have aged out of the foster care system or are otherwise homeless. Utilizing a combination of wrap-around support strategies including employment referrals, aftercare services, and access to a staff therapist, Shepherd Hall offers a safe place for young adults ages 18-24 to live, learn and make the transition to independent adulthood.
